Backlogue — Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 10, 2026
Backlogue ("the app") is a gaming backlog tracker published by Chinese Powered ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app handles and by whom.
The short version: your game list lives on your device. We do run one small server, and it receives two things — an anonymous notification id and the catalogue ids of games you want release alerts for. There is no account, no name, no email, no advertising, and no analytics.
Data stored on your device only
Your pile — the games you have added, their status (Wishlist, Backlog, Playing, Beaten, Bounced), your ratings, your notes, and where you saved each game from — is stored in a local database on your device. We never receive any of it. Deleting the app deletes this data. (It may be included in your phone's own device backups, which follow your Google backup settings.)
Data sent to our server
Backlogue uses a small Cloudflare Worker for two jobs: looking up game information, and sending release alerts. Here is everything it receives.
| What | Why | Tied to you? |
|---|---|---|
| Your search terms | To look games up in the catalogue | No — not stored |
| An anonymous notification id from OneSignal | So an alert can reach your device | No |
| The catalogue ids of games in your pile that you have not finished | So we know which games to watch for a release date | No |
That is the complete list. We do not receive your name, email, contacts, location, device identifiers for advertising, or the games you have already finished. There is no account to attach any of it to, because the app has none.
If you never grant notification permission, nothing is ever registered and the server only ever sees anonymous searches.
Game information (IGDB)
Game names, cover art, release dates and descriptions come from IGDB, which is operated by Twitch. Requests to IGDB are made by our server, not by your device, so IGDB never sees your IP address or anything about you.
Purchases (RevenueCat)
Backlogue Pro is an optional subscription processed by Google Play — we never see your payment details. Purchase receipts are validated by RevenueCat, which processes a pseudonymous app-generated identifier and your purchase status in order to deliver what you bought and prevent fraud. It is not linked to a name or email.
Notifications (OneSignal)
If you grant notification permission, we use OneSignal to deliver alerts. OneSignal assigns your installation a push subscription id and may process device information such as device model, operating-system version, language, and IP address. None of it is tied to a name, email, or account.
We only send an alert when something about a game in your pile actually changed: it gained a release date, its date moved, or it came out. We do not send reminders about unplayed games, and there are no marketing notifications.
Permission is not requested until your pile contains something worth being notified about.
Advertising and analytics
There are none. Backlogue contains no advertising SDK and no analytics SDK. We do not measure how you use the app.
Children
Backlogue is a tool for organising a list of video games and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Your choices
- Notifications: turn them off for the app in your device settings at any time. That stops all alerts.
- Stop server-side registration: uninstalling the app stops it. The server also drops a device from its watch list when that device re-registers with an empty list, which happens automatically once your pile has no unfinished games.
- All local data: delete the app, or remove individual games from your pile.
- Deletion request: email us at the address below and we will remove any server-side record associated with your notification id.
Changes
If a future version changes any of the above, this policy will be updated before that version ships, with the date above revised.
